Worship Ministries

Beautiful and meaningful worship happens because lots of dedicated people make it happen. This support is invaluable – both to those who worship and to those who participate in these ministries.

<> The Altar Guild is a dedicated group that works to maintain the vessels and vestments for use during the liturgy. Their hard work helps to create a beautiful and ordered atmosphere for our worship.

<> The Acolytes assist at the worship service by carrying torches and crosses and the occasional bit of incense. Anyone can volunteer to be an acolyte, but young people in grades 6-12 are especially welcome.

<> Eucharistic Ministers are assistants who serve at the altar and assist with distributing the blessed bread and wine. Any confirmed member of the parish over the age of 16 is welcome to join. Training is provided by the clergy.

<> The Choir leads worship through song during the principal Sunday Eucharist at 10:30 am and at special services such as Holy Week and Christmas. There are two rehearsals per week on Wednesday evening and Sunday morning. Contact Lois Kaarre, our director of music, for more information.

<> Ushers, Greeters, and Readers assist at Sunday worship in a variety of ways. Ushers welcome the congregation and pass out service sheets, give directions and offer assistance, and take up the congregation's offering of money. Greeters welcome visitors, introduce them to the clergy and parishioners, and answer questions about the parish. Readers (also known as lectors) are responsible for the public reading of Scripture during worship.
