Little Saints' Sunday School: for children ages 4-9
Sundays from 9:30am-10:15am
Fall session begins September 18, 2011
Our education program for children uses a modified form of the popular program called Godly Play. In this learning model, storytelling is used to teach the children about the Bible, the sacraments, and what it means to be "church." After the story is finished the children then have the opportunity to respond creatively through activities such as drawing, painting, working with clay, or playing with the story figures. At the end of each session the children are given "busy bags" and then brought upstairs to the sanctuary where they join their families for the 10:30am Eucharist. In this way the children are exposed to community worship from a young age instead of keeping them away from the larger assembly for most of the service. All Little Saints teachers have experience working with children and have completed mandatory child abuse prevention training.
While the children are engaged in learning we hope that their families will do the same by attending one of the adult formation offerings happening at the same time. While adult learning is certainly encouraged it isn't mandatory. Coffee is always available in the Rose Kneale Room for adults who want to relax and chat with friends, or parents can even go out for a quick breakfast before worship. If you have a child attending Little Saints and you plan to leave the building please inform the teacher and leave your cell number with her.
If you have any questions about our Little Saints program please contact the parish office.
