Bound Together: One-on-One Tutoring for Pontiac's children
In 1994 Bound Together was founded by members of All Saints' and several retired Pontiac teachers as a small, after school tutoring program for children in grades 1-6. In 1995, the program added a Kids’ Café dinner through the efforts of our (now retired) Deacon and All Saints’ volunteers. Kids Cafe is now supported by members of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church of Rochester, Michigan. In 1999, Bound Together became a non-profit tax-exempt corporation and reached out to include others from the community on its Board and as tutors. In addition to its primary mission of providing one-on-one supplementary teaching in reading, math, and science throughout the school year, Bound Together hosts holiday parties, summer programs, and field trips. Funding is raised through private donations, local churches, grants from charitable foundations, and other partners in ministry. This year Bound Together was the recipient of a grant from the United Thank Offering, which will enable us to renovate our kitchen for Kids Cafe dinners and other community gatherings.
