About Us

At All Saints' you'll find people from all walks of life: young, old, single, married, divorced, gay, working, stay-at-home, retired, unemployed, black, white, and most anyone else you can think of - all trying to figure out together how to grow closer to God and love others. If you are thinking about visiting us for the first time, our expectation is that God will be experienced as we gather together in the name of Christ. We are committed to providing an environment that encourages and celebrates that reality so that all can experience God's loving care made real in our community.

How do I get to the church?
We're located right off Orchard Lake Rd. at the corner of Williams & Pike Sts. in downtown Pontiac. For a map and directions click here.

Where do I park?
There's a large parking lot adjacent to the church building. Park anywhere you like, although if you don't have a handicapped placard please avoid parking in those designated spots.

Where do I go?
We are a church of many doors, but there are two main entrances into the sanctuary: One is directly across the lawn from the parking lot and leads into the rear of the sanctuary. The other door is under an overhang. When you go through this door you will find yourself in a hallway just outside the sanctuary. Go through the double glass doors on your left and you'll be in the worship space.

Is your church accessible for people with disabilities?
Our welcome to all extends to those with mobility challenges. All Saints' Church is a universally accessible building with ramp access to the sanctuary and parish hall, elevator access to all floors, front pews with space for wheelchairs, and a unisex restroom that meets Americans with Disabilities Act standards. Holy Communion is always available at a "standing station" in order to accommodate those who have difficulty climbing steps to the altar rail.

What do I wear?
No matter what your personal style, you’ll be comfortable at All Saints'. If you prefer dressy, business, or casual attire, chances are there will be others dressed much like you no matter when you visit. Sunday mornings are a time when many prefer to dress up a bit, but even if jeans are more your style, you’ll be right at home with us.

What are the worship services like?
From the Sunday after Labor Day until Trinity Sunday (May-June) there are two worship services on Sunday morning, and both are celebrations of the Holy Eucharist. The early service at 8:00am is peaceful and meditative, using the traditional language of the Elizabethan period. There is no music at this service. Our principal worship service takes place at 10:30am and features music with choir and hymns. A sermon is preached at both services. We also celebrate the Eucharist at 12:10pm on Wednesday.

During the summer we have one worship service at 9:30am with coffee hour following. Rite II is used for the first half of the summer, and Rite I is used for the remainder of the season. No matter which form we use, music is always used at our Sunday liturgies.

What else happens on Sunday?
There is often a class, book study or discussion group going on between the two services. Click here for more information on current offerings. At the conclusion of the 10:30 service there is a coffee hour, which is a great way to meet new people, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, and find out more about us. During the summer things tend to get a bit quieter, but many groups still continue to meet informally.

Does anything happen on other days?
There's always something going on at All Saints!' There are 12 Step meetings, neighborhood basketball games in our gym, Bible studies, men's group ,activities, a film group - you name it! Our News page is a good way to keep informed. You can also sign up to receive Saints Alive!, our weekly e-newsletter.

Can I meet the Pastor?
Our Rector would love to meet you! Mother Karen always circulates during coffee hour and keeps an eye out for visitors. You can also send her an email or call the parish office in order to set up an appointment. Karen is usually in the office from 9:30am until 4:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. Her contact info is here.

What does this church believe?
In the Episcopal Church the basic statement of faith is The Nicene Creed. You can find more information at the online Visitor's Center of the Episcopal Church.

What does the church look like?
We take a lot of pride in our beautiful building, which was built for the glory of God and is maintained so that our worship and community spaces are always clean and safe. There are two links to our old web site which will give you an idea of what our facilities look like: a virtual tour of both the interior and exterior of the church, and a collection of photographs called Treasures of All Saints. We invite you to take some time to look around.
