Welcome: The Rev. John Conners, Interim Priest
It is with great joy that we announce The Rev. John H. Conners has accepted the call to be the Interim Rector of All Saints’, beginning on June 2nd, 2025. Fr. John’s first Sunday with us will be June 8th…the Day of Pentecost.
John is a native Michigander, having grown up in Menominee in the Upper Peninsula. He attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he earned a bachelor’s degree from the university’s School of Music on North Campus. He entered as an Organ and Church Music major, but took the degree in Music Education. John and his wife moved back to Menominee where he bought the small family shoe store he had worked in during high school and built a house out on the shores of the Bay of Green Bay (Lake Michigan). John has an adult son, Ken, who currently resides in Japan with his wife, Opal and his ‘Grand-Kitty,’ Agnes.
It was during this time that John transitioned from the Presbyterian to the Episcopal Church. Ten years later the congregation of St. Paul’s, Marinette (the Wisconsin side of Menominee/Marinette) sent John and his family to New York where he earned his MDiv. at The General Theological Seminary. While in New York John served as seminarian, deacon, and priest on staff at The Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Times Square. His son, Kenneth, served as ‘Boat Boy’ in the liturgy at St. Mary’s…and sang for three years in the Metropolitan Opera’s Children Chorus. It was a time of great transition in John’s family’s life, and after ordination he left New York with his future partner of 25 years, The Rev. H. King McGlaughon. King died of cancer 11 years ago. John, and his son Ken are still very close even though they currently live 4,000 miles apart.
Fr. John has already begun moving into the Rector’s office at All Saints’. He looks forward to having time with each of you while sharing food, fun, and stories as together we begin our ‘Journey of Transition.’
